Set amidst the beautiful countryside of Hatfield Peverel in Essex is Cleverley Mere. It is a gravel pit of nearly 9 acres and is nicely established with an abundance of features.

There is an island, reeds, weed, overhanging trees, gravel, silt and more. The depths range from between 4 and 18 feet giving both the fish and angler plenty of options.

The lake is home to some huge rudd, large tench, large perch, pike and of course carp. The lake record mirror currently stands at 52lbs whilst the common record is 42lbs. The total carp stock is estimated at around 100 with most of them being over 20lbs.
There are at least 25 fish over 30lbs with this number increasing regularly. Out of these there at least 9 fish over 35lbs, 5 of which have been caught at over 40lbs.

Any fish stocked into Cleverley were purchased from sources recommended to us by E.C.H.O.

Cleverley Mere is going from strength to strength and is fast becoming one of the country's top big carp fisheries.
