Getting There:
The Fennes is in Bocking Village which is about three miles north of Braintree just off the A131 at High Garrett. Heading towards Sudbury, turn off the A131 into Bocking Church Street as directed by the brown Tourist Board signs. The fishery is signposted half a mile down Fennes Road.

The Fennes Fisheries is one of the most popular coarse fisheries in Essex offering a total of 14.5 acres of water in three spring-fed lakes containing carp [to nearly 30lbs] as well as good sized tench [to over 6lb], bream [to 5lb], roach [to 2lb 14oz], rudd and perch [to over 4lb].
Ash Grounds lake offers 60 pegs with many features and islands within casting distance. It is great for either margin or surface fishing. Try floating dog biscuit or bread crust or cast to the islands using a bubble float. Target the carp around the lillies and the margins, using the bankside cover. Favoured pegs are 31 and 24.
Hobs Croft Lake is a 30 peg, three and a half acre lake, more open than Ash Grounds, but again with islands to fish to. Favoured pegs are 63 and 71.
Hill and Black has depths rising from 7 feet to 3-4 feet round the islands and holds a large stock of good sized fish with carp to well over 20lb, tench, roach, rudd and skimmers. All methods work well.

Rules:
- open from 07:30 to sunset
- no close season
- no night fishing allowed.
