LOCATION: Alresford

SIZE: Jerry's Lake 11 acres
. Halls Lake 3 acres

Jacks lake 5.5 acres
Ellis Pit 1 acre

Jerry’s Lake
The main lake on the complex is just shy of 17 acres in size and comprises of shallow bars, gravel humps, silt filled gullies and secluded island areas. In its quarry days this part of the site was included in the main quarry face which is why the bottom contours of this water are so varied, albeit a fantastic proposition for a carp and angler alike.CEMEX Angling has stocked over 300 carp into its weed filled waters, with specimens to 24lb 12oz being the largest at the time of introduction. Thirty custom made pegs have been dug into the bank on this site to provide comfortable yet practical angling opportunities for anglers to enjoy this fantastic day ticket water, of which a high proportion have been planted to allow screening from other anglers and to provide marginal habitat and cover for the many animals, birds and insects that inhabit the site.

Special care has been taken in choosing the stock for this lake to ensure that all the fish that will be caught will be stunning to the eye and heavy in the sling! The main stay of the stock are CEMEX’s own Sutton strain fish although a high proportion of the stock is derived from Leney-Dink crosses. This mix was intentional to create a good mix of fish in the water and ensure that no particular fish strain becomes dominant allowing a more balanced stock.
At the time of printing, the venue should be freshly planted with a selection of native trees and aquatic plants which will, in time grow well and enhance the venue and provide a fantastic bio diverse environment for all to enjoy.

Hall’s Lake
This water has been designed with the pleasure/match angler in mind and compromises of thirty purpose made fishing platforms to allow comfort and space for all who wish to ‘have a dangle’ in its blue waters. Stock ratios have been carefully monitored to ensure good catch returns and consistent sport whilst not developing it into an over stocked commercial water.

A great deal of time, money and thought has gone into the lakes development in terms of planting schemes and the recycling of waste products to highlight CEMEX Angling’s commitment to managing its waters in a sustainable and responsible way.
Materials that are currently unable to be recycled in the plastics industry have been used via new technology to construct the fishing platforms that have been carefully positioned on this site. After several process’s the plastic is molded into planks and boards which not only look like timber but also behave like timber in terms of strength and durability and ease of working.

Stock in the lake consists of all the usual species found in match waters although the bias of this lake is not carp but bream and tench with perch, chub, roach, rudd and crucians making the rest of the lakes population. There are a number of small carp in this water but not to the same extent as can be found in other match waters in an attempt to try and go back to when carp didn’t dominate catch weights and a mixed coarse fish bag was sufficient to get the ‘silver ware’.

Jack’s Lake
This is an intimate water set with mature redlined banks holding hand picked stunners from our own strains but also Leney-Dinks, Pure strain Italians. A relatively small water being no larger than 4 acres, yet shaped so that bars and plateau’s, islands and shallows are within reach of all of the swims on the lake.

When stocked the fish were in their sixth year and pushing 20lb but should be well on the way to mid 20’s by the summer of 2009. Attention to detail has seen an extensive reshaping and reworking of the pit to ensure that every swim has features contained within it to allow interesting yet not easy fishing for those wishing to see one of these simply stunning fish in the bottom of their landing net. This water is day ticket like the rest of the lakes on the venue to allow anglers of all abilities to be able to have a go and enjoy not just the fantastic specimens in its waters but also the awesome scenery and wildlife that surround this lake.

Ellis Pit
A desire to return to those misty, spring dawns and hazy summer afternoons has been behind the creation of this water. Set aside from the rest of the site, this water was screaming out to be developed as a specimen Tench and Crucian water holding tench in excess of 8lb and crucians topping the 2lb mark.

The crystal clear water which is to be found in this little ½ acre pond is teaming with aquatic life and provides a fantastic habitat for the ponds residents. With just these two species present in this water it enables you to set your stall out to try and catch one of these two species knowing that you won’t get pestered by nuisance fish. If you fancy going back in time to remember those exciting days of float fishing for the unseen giants that were always found in your ‘local’ pond and realising your dream as the brightly tipped float dips and them disappears into the depths then this is the water for you, real Mr Crabtree dreams are to be found here.
