Ladywell is a stunning estate lake of nearly 7 acres in size and is situated in Great Hallingbury near Bishops Stortford.
It is over 200 years old and is beautifully established with more than half of the lake being surrounded by dense woodlands. There are overgrown islands, reeds and lilies and it is quite common to see deer running along the bankside. In fact, if you could picture the perfect carp lake in your mind it would probably look something like Ladywell.
There are tench, rudd and an estimated stock of 50-55 carp present with the lake record standing at just over 44lbs. At the right time of year there are at least 7 fish over 30lbs.
Many of the carp have yet to be caught including at least one very big fish that most of the current members have seen.
It is by no means easy fishing but the history and prestige of the fish make them very worthy targets.
